Conduct of Children

Quite a number of events had been happening in school recently. A couple of days ago, my colleague was just telling me that halfway through her Primary 4 computer class in the lab, more than 10 students in her class had their money stolen, and 1 girl's handphone was lost too. They could not bring their school bags into the lab, so they had left them on the shelves outside. Luckily, there was a camera outside the lab, so our operation manager could see everything clearly if he played the tape. So after her class, my colleague went down to see the tape together with the OM. Guess what? It was a Primary 3 boy playing around with the belongings. He took the money and handphone and switched around with all the bags. So naturally, some of them could not find their money, whereas some of them had 'extra money' suddenly. The boy had since been recognised and caught, but I don't know what will happen to him. =/

Last week, two pupils were caught cheating for Chinese Oral. I was totally shocked! Oral is like one of the easier components to score, and it's near impossible to cheat for Oral, but the two boys did it anyway. The Chinese HOD had spoken to their parents to inform them about this, and the boys were given a big fat zero each for their Oral.

In the staff room right now, I overheard another teacher talking to his 2 pupils. Not only did they both not do their homework, one had stolen the other's money and kept it.

It's quite sad to see young children behaving this way. What prompted them to do this in the first place? Attention seeking? Financial problems? Kiasu-ism? Not confident enough? Or just unhappy with a certain classmate? Either one, he should not have done this in the first place. It reflects badly on himself, his family, his teachers, the school; it may even affect his future.

Thank God my younger siblings are just playful only. :)
