This is dedicated to my baby. dum spiro, ti amo. Forever and ever.

I went back to my contract school this morning, as I had promised my pupils that I would try to visit them during every school event. They knew I was in school so during recess, they came down to the staff room to look for me and talk to me. Some of them brought presents and cards for me, and I was so touched I nearly teared in front of them. I didn't think that they will hold on to my promise and some of them even asked me why I took so long to come back. I had to explain that I did go back during National Day but as my day was quite packed, I couldn't stay and chat with them.
We took pictures outside the staff room, and every (ex)colleague who walked past was like smiling and trying to skirt past the crowd to get to the other side of the path. I took the time to chat with them, some one-to-one, some in a group and so on. It was not very long ago that I had left them (about 1 and a half month) but I felt that some of them had changed. I also shared with some of them that during the first week, I felt really terrible because I missed them so much I would always think about them during my long train rides. Since they believe so much in my simple promise, I will definitely try to keep it for as long as I can. Some of them asked me things like, "Miss Toh, why you never come online in msn for so long?", which I felt was quite funny haha..I mean, ya I admit that I don't chat online that much ever since I started teaching, and by the time I can do my assignments and stuff online, they would be sleeping already. There were a few who rushed to the bookshop to buy something for me and I was really touched by their gesture of appreciation right till the last minute, but I was also worried that they would not have money to eat. So I kept asking them whether they still have money to eat or not..and I felt in such a lousy position because I could not even offer them biscuits (I always kept biscuits and snacks at my workstation when I was there).
I watched the concert and their songs and dedications were really touching. It was a far cry from last year's celebration (last year it's more of playing games and having fun), and you can see some teachers really crying and stuff. It's so disappointing that I had to leave halfway because I need to rush back for classes. :(

My mum kept coming to see my presents and it's quite irritating because it's not that she wants to see them. She just wants to come and see what she can take from me so that she can let my siblings give to their teachers next year and so on. Wah lao, I know I keep a lot of things and I brought them all back when I left, but I want ALL OF THEM! EVERYTHING! It's all the children's effort and I don't care whether is it last year's teachers' day or this year's, as long as I can keep, I will definitely keep! GRRR!!!
